Malaysia advanced into the Division I of next Asian U-16 girls Game with a great 6 winning games. Malaysia won 5 games in a row to earn the Division II title and getting the chance to fight for a Division I berth. Malaysia defeated the Philippines, who was winless in Division match-ups (0-5), 66 55 and will replace the Philippines in 2013 Asian U-16 girls Game to compete in Division I. Malaysia will be facing the top Asian teams including defending champion Japan, China, Korea, Chinese Taipei & India. Players were inconsistent throughout this tournament. Teo Chu Yun was able to scored 18 points in 2 games, scored 8 points in another 2 games, but also had 2 bad nights with 2 points & 0 point. Lam Xue Ying had 3 double-doubles & 4 games in double digit scoring, but also had 2 off nights which find nothing from the field and nothing from the scoreboard.

India enjoyed a 34:26 halftime buffer. The teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter. India entered the fourth stanza up by 8 points 46:38. But the hosts refused to give up. Malaysia narrowed the deficit to a single point with just over a minute remaining. But several misses in the dying stages did not allow Malaysia to snatch the victory.
