Al Riyadi - CS Antonins 95-82

Al Riyadi toppled Antonins to open win count in the quarterfinal series. Al Riyadi outrebounded CS Antonins 41-23 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Al Riyadi's coach Ahmad Farran used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Jordanian guard Rasheim Wright (192-81, college: District of Col.) answered with 29 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Patrick Bou-Abboud (199-87) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for CS Antonins. Five Al Riyadi and four CS Antonins players scored in double figures.

Beirut Club coasted past Moutahed in the opener. Beirut Club players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) stepped up and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

Homenetmen secured the winning start to their playoff campaign. They stormed past Louaize. Homenetmen looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Louaize's players. Forward Hayk Gyokchyan (203-90, college: Franklin & Marshall) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Tunisian Makram Ben-Romdhane (204-89) accounted for 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Homenetmen players scored in double figures. Australian-South Sudanese forward Deng Deng (203-92, college: Baylor, agency: Slash Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and guard Jimmy Salem (190-95) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for Louaize in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games.
