WLBL Second Stage continues as Homentmen Antelias runs by Chabibeh Sporting Club 97-77 Monday night.

April Sykes (182-G/F-90, college: Rutgers) was the headline story taking over this game from start to finish. She displayed her great scoring ability from the inside to the outside Monday night. Sykes finished the game with 26 points and 10 rebounds in the win. WLBL star child Rebecca Akl (169-PG-92)l was unstoppable yet again scoring 14 points and dissing out 6 assists. Import center Vicky McIntyre (201-C-92, college: ORU) posted yet another double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

Chabibeh Sporting Club continues to struggle after the loss of WLBL star Kristina King (180-PG-92, college: Richmond). Shareta Brown (185-C-93, college: Wayne St., MI) finished with a game high 39 points but not nearly enough for Homentmen. Other import Chelsea Poppens (188-F-91, college: Iowa St.) adds 14 points and Jennifer Ammoury Maalouf (178-F/G-89) posted 10 in a losing effort.

Homentmen Antelias continues to control the WLBL.

Al Riyadi Club - Antranik 68-64 Al Riyadi Club wins the Lebanese Cup as they overcame Antranik 68-64. Both teams were tied at 54-54 after three quarters, while Al Riyadi Club needed a final push in the fourth period to seal the win. Roneeka Hodges (180-G/F-82, college: Florida St.) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Imani Stafford (201-C-94, college: Texas) posted 17. Al-Riyadi Beirut and Homenetmen Antelias enter the Finals as they swept their semifinal series against the opponents. Al-Riyadi Beirut overcame Antranik Beirut 68-49 in game 3 to win the series 3-0. They posted a 20-15 lead at the start, but trailed 2 points at the halftime. In the third period Al-Riyadi Beirut needed a 16-12 run and then closed the game with a 25-7 surge. Al Riyadi and Homenetmen won the first two games of the semifinals as the Play-offs started in Lebanon. Al Riyadi posted a comfortable 71-47 win over Antranik in the opener. Moreover they won 76-60 in game 2 for a 2-0 lead in the series. Homenetmen Antelias meanwhile overcame Hoops twice in the campaign.   [read more]
