Makram Ben
Romdhane
Tunisian Makram Ben Romdhane (204-PF-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Homenetmen and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 28-year old power forward had the game-high 30 points adding eight rebounds and four assists for Homenetmen in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Champville (6-1) with 33-point margin 110-77. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Homenetmen to jump to the first place in the Lebanese Pepsi LBL. Homenetmen have a solid 6-1 record. In the team's last game Ben Romdhane had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Homenetmen's top player in his first season with the team. Makram Ben Romdhane averages this season 13.7ppg and 7.6rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 29-year old American forward Travis Franklin (200-F-88) of Louaize. Franklin impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Louaize cruised to a 87-75 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Byblos (#8, 1-6). This victory allowed Louaize to move up to 7th position in the standings. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Louaize managed to get this year. Franklin is a newcomer at Louaize and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.7ppg (#2). He also registered 8.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Louaize's star - American Marvelle Harris (193-SG-93, agency: Slash Sports). Harris showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, twelve rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Louaize, helping his team with a 87-75 win against slightly lower-ranked Byblos (#8, 1-6). Louaize can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-5 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Harris he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Harris has individually a great season in Lebanon. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.6ppg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ahmad Ismail (205-F/C-76) of Homenetmen - 15 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Kammeon Holsey (203-F-90) of Byblos - 28 points and 8 rebounds
6. Dewayne Jackson (203-F-90) of Sagesse - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Chris Crawford (193-G-92) of Beirut Club - 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists
8. Hayk Gyokchyan (203-F-90) of Homenetmen - 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Jean Abdel Nour (198-G/F-83) of Al Riyadi - 17 points and 9 rebounds
10. Darian Townes (208-F/C-84) of Moutahed - 22 points and 9 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

28-year old forward Bassel Bawji (203-F-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Beirut Club and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 8. He had a double-double of 29 points and 15 rebounds, while his team crushed Champville (#3, 6-2) with 17-point margin 92-75. Beirut Club maintains the 5th position in Lebanese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Beirut Club will need more victories to...   [read more]

Pepsi LBL Round 8: Al Riyadi keeps a leadership position - 3 days ago

Al Riyadi made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage.
