EEWBL line-up is almost complete and will feature a record 16 teams from 11 countries. We welcome the first team from the Eastern Mediterranean - Al Riyadi Beirut from Lebanon. Lebanon is a basketball powerhouse of Asia. Its men's team conquered silver medals in the Asian championship three times (2001, 2005, 2007). Lebanon has strong clubs as well, especially in its capital city Beirut, which is known as 'Paris of the Middle East' Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was born in Beirut and spent much of his childhood in Lebanon. Al Riyadi men's team won the 2017 Lebanese championship, while the women finished in the second place behind Homenetmen Antelias. Homenetmen won thanks to the American and Lithuanian superstars - respectively Angel McCoughtry and Gintare Petronyte. Al Riyadi won the 2017 Lebanese Cup and signed former TTT Riga standout Aishah Sutherland (187-F-90, college: Kansas, agency: Two Points). Beirut team is also: three times champion of Lebanon, four times Lebanon Cup winner, three times champion of West Asia, two times Arab champion and a champion of Hicham Jaroudi championship.
