Al Riyadi rallied past Sagesse in the quarterfinal series opener. Al Riyadi outrebounded Sagesse 49-31 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American forward Calvin Godfrey (206-90, college: Memphis) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Sagesse.

Byblos outlasted Tadamon in overtime. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Byblos made 7 blocks. Homenetmen Beirut (Pepsi LBL) confirmed in their roster 23-year old shooting guard Elie Chamoun (193-94). He played there last season. In 37 Pepsi LBL games he recorded 6.1ppg and 2.2rpg. Chamoun helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. The previous (15-16) season he played at Byblos Sporting Club where in 25 Pepsi LBL games he averaged 3.6ppg and 2.2rpg.
