Ali Traore
Byblos Sporting Club (Pepsi LBL) landed 32-year old French ex-international power forward Ali Traore (207-108kg-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: BeoBasket). He played recently at Estudiantes in Spanish Liga Endesa, but left the team two months ago. In 16 games he averaged 5.6ppg and 2.9rpg this season. The last season Traore played at Limoges CSP Elite in French ProA. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In 30 ProA games he had 9.7ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1apg. It was a very successful season in his career as he was selected to French ProA All-Star Game. Traore also played 9 games in Euroleague where he recorded 10.4ppg and 5.0rpg. He also played 8 games in Eurocup where he got 11.5ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3apg.
Among other achievements Traore won French ProA championship title in 2002 and 2009. He received also Eurobasket.com All-French ProA Domestic Player of the Year award back in 2010.
Traore was also a member of French international program for some years. He played for French Senior National Team between 2009 and 2015 and previously for U20 National Team in 2005.
Traore represented France at the Olympic Games in London (United Kingdon) five years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 4.5ppg, 2.7rpg.
Traore is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in five different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Traore has played previously professionally in Germany (ALBA Berlin), Italy (Roma Virtus), Russia (Lokomotiv), France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket, Chorale de Roanne, Strasbourg IG, STB Le Havre and JSF Nanterre) and Lebanon (Amchit).
He attended College of Southern Idaho until 2005 and it is his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into Traore's outlook: A very athletic player, who can play in each of the front court positions. Has great inside game skills, he's tough and has good timing for the offensive rebounds. Also, he can hit a shot from outside. This is why he could spend time at the SF position too, but he should improve his defensive skills for first.
