Sagesse successfully started their campaign to defend their title in Dubai after a win against Ball Above All. Sagesse's wonder duo of Terrell Stoglin (185-G-91, college: Maryland) and Michael Efevberha (193-G-84, college: CS Northridge) made all the difference starting the game. Known for their explosiveness and great shooting ability, they were both able to expand the defense and exploit the open spaces. Add to that Patrick's great showing, Sagesse were able to finish the first half leading by 13, 34-47. In the beginning of the third quarter, Ball Above All had a 8-0 run to cut the lead down to 5. Soon after Sagesse seized back control of the game with a great performance from Mohammad Ibrahim to increase the lead back up to 17 by the end of the third quarter. In the last quarter, everything went in Sagesse's favor as they went on a scoring spree. It was good to see the Lebanese players getting involved in the game, as Patrick, Mohammad, and Bashir all kept their fingerprints on the game. Sagesse controlled the game till the dying seconds of the game to record their first win in the opening game of the tournament with a final score of 99-72.
