Fadi El
Khatib
The Lebanese Basketball National Team found no difficulty crushing Iraq in their opening game at the 2017 WABA Championship 86-46. From the first quarter onward, Lebanon took the lead and kept on increasing it. Fadi Khatib (198-F/G-79) was the best scorer in the first half with 14 points, followed closely by Wael Arakji (194-PG-94)'s 11 as the Cedars went to the halftime break with a 44-25. Moreover, Coach Joe took advantage of the early lead in order to give playing time to all players. Charles Tabet (205-C/F-87, college: S.Alabama) was terrific, grabbing 9 rebounds and dominating the paint.
Nevertheless, despite the blow out game, the performance was not exemplary as the Lebanese players lost their focus at some points which costed us easy baskets. The coaching staff will surely address this issue and build more chemistry for the upcoming games and tournaments.
