Jasmon
Youngblood
Experienced Naturalized American Shooting guard Jasmon Youngblood (195-SG-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Byblos and that's him to receive a Usbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 32-year old shooting guard had the game-high 36 points adding four rebounds and two assists for Byblos in his team's victory, helping them to beat Louaize (#3, 5-3) 83-71. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Byblos maintains the 2nd position in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Byblos will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. In the team's last game Youngblood had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He has many years of experience at Byblos, through which he has constantly improved. Kent State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Youngblood is in league's top in points (8th best: 22.4ppg) and averages solid 55.0% FGP and 42.3% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-PG-89) of Champville. Rembert impressed basketball fans with 32 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course Champville cruised to a 80-73 relatively comfortable win over Hoops (#10, 0-8). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Champville dropped in the standings to second-to-the-bottom (9th) position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Rembert is a newcomer at Champville and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.7ppg (#5). He also recorded 4.3 assists per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Darrius Garrett (206-C-90) of Hoops (#10). Garrett scored 21 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Garrett's great performance Hoops lost 73-80 to slightly higher-ranked Champville (#9, 3-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Hoops can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 8 games. Too bad for Garrett he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Garrett has individually a great season in Lebanon. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.4rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ndudi Ebi (206-F-84) of Byblos - 19 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Earvin Morris (196-G-94) of Tadamon - 30 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists
6. Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-F/C-84) of Hoops - 23 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Robert Upshaw (213-C-94) of Mayrouba - 26 points and 10 rebounds
8. Geron Johnson (190-G-92) of Louaize - 32 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Herbert Hill (208-F-84) of Tadamon - 18 points and 19 rebounds
10. Maurice Kemp (203-F-91) of Tadamon - 23 points and 9 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Al Riyadi - Homenetmen 70-57 Al Riyadi celebrated Pepsi League title. They edged Homenetmen in Game 6 to capture the trophy. Strangely Homenetmen outrebounded Al Riyadi 44-31 including a 19-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international swingman Jean Abdel-Nour (198-83) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Pepsi LBL Round 5 of Finals. Al Riyadi celebrate third victory - 4 days ago

But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening.
