Lebanese Basketball will have another busy summer this year with two major championships in the 2016 calendar; the first test for the Lebanese National Team will be in the West Asian Championship which will take place in Jordan from May 30th till June 4th with participation of Five National Teams : Lebanon, Iran , Syria, Jordan, Iraq. This championship will qualify Two Teams to the FIBA Asia Cup . The championship was scheduled to qualify Three teams but due that Iran stepped down from hosting the event only Two teams will represent West Asia in the above prestigious event.

The Lebanese Basketball Federation appointed Patrick Saba as head coach for the National Team , he will be assisted by Marwan Khalil. The coaching staff will have a very difficult task this year due that the timing of the West Asian Championship coincides with the Finals of the Lebanese League. The National Team will miss key players from the two teams which will play the Finals.

Coach Saba will soon invite all the players who are not playing in the Final Four and to be joined soon by the players of the losing teams from the Final Four.
As per FIBA Internal Regulations each National Team participating in main FIBA competition is entitled to have one Naturalized player , Coach Saba short list will join Norvel Pele in case Homentmen don't reach the Finals or Jasmon Youngblood who represented Lebanon last summer in the West Asian Championship and FIBA Asia Championship and helped Lebanon to finish 5th in this prestigious championship.
