Fadi Khatib
Experienced former international forward Fadi Khatib (199-F-79) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Champville and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 13.
The 33-year old forward had the game-high 33 points adding six rebounds and eight assists for Champville in his team's victory, helping them to crush Bejjeh (#7, 4-9) with 22-point margin 107-85. Champville maintains the 3rd position in Lebanese Division A. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Champville will need more victories to improve their 9-4 record. It's Khatib's second year at Champville and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Khatib has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 27.3ppg), assists (7th best: 4.1apg) and averages solid 55.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old American swingman Andre Emmett (196-G/F-82) of Amchit. Emmett impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 43 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Amchit was edged by the lower-ranked Hoops (#8, 3-9) 82-81. This loss caused Amchit to drop to 4th position in the standings. His team's 8-4 record is not bad at all. Emmett is a newcomer at Amchit and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 40.7ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 8.4rpg and 5.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Jasmon Youngblood (195-G-84) of Byblos (#5). Youngblood scored 25 points and passed ten assists (!!!). He was a key player of Byblos, leading his team to a 94-84 win against the lower-ranked Antranik (#10, 1-11). Byblos needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 4 lost games. Youngblood has a great season in Lebanon. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.4ppg (8th best) and assists with 5.9apg (4th best). He also has 2.5spg and FGP: 58.9%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Larry Blair (183-G-84) of Hoops - 30 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Nikoloz Tskitishvili (212-C/F-83) of Champville - 23 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Asenso Ampim (198-F) of Antranik - 28 points and 9 rebounds
7. Harold Jamison (204-C-76) of Bejjeh - 22 points and 12 rebounds
8. Michael Fraser (203-C/F-84) of Byblos - 11 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Jesse Perry (200-F) of Hoops - 28 points and 11 rebounds
10. Reyshawn Terry (203-F-84) of Champville - 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Matic prepares Lebanon for WABA - May 26, 2016

Lebanon have one thing in mind and one thing only heading into this week's WABA Championship (29 May-2 June) in Amman, Jordan. They want to punch their ticket to the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, which is to be staged in Changsha-Hunan, China, from 23 September to 3 October. To meet that aim and claim one of three spots up for grabs, and without the benefit of much preparation time, national team coach Veselin Matic (agency: Interperformances ) is going to use Lebanon-based Jasmon Youngblo...   [read more]
