Santa Barbara Breakers-Al Riyadi 79:88

Al Riyadi posted the second straight win at the Groningen Basketball Week in Holland. The Lebanese team overcame Santa Barbara Breakers to win the group with 2-0 record.
Al Riyadi started the game with 15-13 and posted massive 25-11 surge in the second period. The American team was too far to give up and replied with 27-19 burst in the third period and reduced to 8 points after 30 minutes. Al Riyadi however needed a narrow 29-28 rally to seal the victory.
Ahmad Ibrahim (202-G/F-92, college: Rice) top-scored for the winners with 17 points, while Ismail Ahmad Abdelmonaim notched 13. Amir Saoud (188-G-91) delivered 12, whilst Jean Abdel Nour and Anderson had 9 each. Chase Charles-Thomas Adams ended up with 20 points in defeat and Perrin Rudolphus Johnson as well as Derrick O'Neil (196-F-87, college: Florida Gulf Coast) brought 14 each. Hondre Rene Hondre Brewer (213-C-80, college: USF) delivered 10 points in the losing effort.

Rodrigue Akl(187-PG-88) will sign with Byblos in the upcoming few hours to play next to Ali Mahmoud. These two players are the best point guards in the field and they will play again this season with Byblos. Akl and Mahmoud played one month together in season 2009-2010 with Champion Al riyadi Beirut. Byblos signed with Ex-Mouttahed Omar Turk and Tarek Ammoury. Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (Pepsi LBL) signed experienced 34-year old American guard Dewarick Spencer (193-82, college: Arkansas State, agency: Higher Vision Sports). It is actually his comeback to Beirut as he has played here before. Spencer played last season at Guaros in Venezuelan LPB league. In four games he had very impressive stats: 20.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.5apg and 2.0spg. Champville (Pepsi LBL) inked 27-year old American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-85kg-89, college: Cal-Irvine). He played most recently at Uhud in Saudi Arabian SBL league. Rembert also played that season for Al Khor in D1 where in 18 games he was the best scorer with impressive 30.8ppg and recorded 3.9rpg, 4.6apg and 1.5spg last season.
