Al Riyadi surprise Siauliai in the opener of the Groninger Basketball Week. The team from Lebanon overcame Lithuanian representative 78:75 in Holland.
Al Riyadi won the first period 24-23, but Siauliai bounced back with 23-18 in the second period. Again the team exchanged the victories in the second half, while the third period was decisive in the game. Al Riyadi needed a 22-11 surge to take a 7-point lead after 30 minutes. The European team replied with 18-14 in the last stanza for the final result.
Anderson top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Loren Woods (218-C-78, college: Arizona) notched 22. Ahmad Ismail (205-F/C-76) delivered 13, while Abdel Nour Jean had 7. Julius Jucikas (205-C-89) ended up with 23 points in the losing effort and Papa Dia (208-F-87, college: SMU) brought 11. Jackson scored 9, while Klym Artamonov (183-PG-93) and Liutrycius posted 7 apiece.

Maccabi Kiryat Gat (Winner League) sign 28-year old American power forward Curtis Kelly (205-115kg-88, college: Kansas State, agency: HMS). He played in the summer at Homenetmen in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. Among other achievements Kelly won Israeli National League championship title in 2012.
