28-year old Michael Fraser (203-C/F-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for Byblos and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
He had a double-double of 17 points and 22 rebounds, while his team beat Anibal (#10, 1-6) 79-71. Byblos is placed at 4th position in Lebanese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Byblos will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. Fraser turned to be Byblos' top player in his first season with the team. Oklahoma Baptist University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Fraser leads league in rebounds with 16.9rpg. Fraser is in league's top in and averages solid 2.7bpg.

Second best performed player last round was Fadi Khatib (199-F-79) of Champville. He is former international forward in his 2nd season at Champville. In the last game Khatib recorded impressive double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Champville lost that game 55-66 to league's leader Sagesse (#1, 7-0). Champville managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-4 record. Khatib is well-known at Champville and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 27.3ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 6.8rpg and 4.1apg.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Andre Emmett (196-G/F-82) of Amchit (#3). Emmett got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for nine rebounds and eight assists. He was a key player of Amchit, leading his team to a 88-57 easy win against the lower-ranked Bejjeh (#7, 2-5). Amchit needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. The season just started for Emmett as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Chudney Gray (188-G-78) of Anibal - 28 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists
5. Amir Saoud (188-G-91) of Al Riyadi - 27 points and 3 rebounds
6. Eric Chatfield (191-G-79) of Moutahed - 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Marc Salyers (205-F-79) of Moutahed - 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Aaron Harper (199-G/F-81) of Sagesse - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Loren Woods (218-C-78) of Al Riyadi - 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Jasmon Youngblood (195-G-84) of Byblos - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Lebanon Crush Jordan at WABA U16 Championship - 3 days ago
The Lebanese under 16 basketball national team grabbed another large win at the 2017 U16 WABA Championship, by defeating Jordan this time 78-47. Our young players have been showing off terrific potential so far by smashing the opposition in both played games. These wins have paved the way towards an Asian qualification, as 2 teams out of 5 will go through. The only tough game will surely be against Iran but our team has all it got to beat them   [read more]
