Veteran American-Lebanese forward Garnett Thompson (206-C/F-80, college: Providence) has a new home for the 2012-13 season in four-time consecutive Saudi champion Al Ittihad Jeddah. Thompson, who gained Lebanese citizenship this year and took part in the FIBA Asia Cup in Tokyo with the National Team, had spent most of the past two seasons with Champville. In 2011 he joined Champville in May to help lead the club to a spot in the semifinals of the Arab Club Championships. Last season he appeared in 21 Lebanese league contests averaging 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks. In addition he was named to the Asia-Basket.com All-WABA League 2nd Team after a dominating 18.8ppg, 9.9rpg, 2.5apg, 1.5spg, 1.5bpg performance over eight games.
With all of his accomplishments many felt that it would be another successful season for the Central Islip, New York native in Lebanon. However the head coach of the club had other idea and felt that the club would no longer need his services. So, faced with a situation of no longer being wanted the 6-9 Thompson will now play for Al Ittihad Jeddah, which has claimed the Saudi Arabian league championship four seasons in a row. For a player who has excelled in many stops throughout the world including Poland, China, Syria and South Korea, Saudi Arabia will be a new challenge for the 32 year old.
According to Garnett "I did not leave or choose to leave Champville. I didn't like how it concluded, but everything happens for a reason and I just take it as God telling me it was time for me to move on...I hold no grudges".
Thompson signed a contract with Al Ittihad Jeddah until June of next season and he has all intentions of helping them maintain their history of stellar finishes "I'm going to Saudi Arabia to help Al Ittihad Jeddah win another championship by being a good teammate and giving them 200% of my effort".

AUL represented Lebanon at the FISU 3x3 Basketball Championship and grabbed a bronze medal after a hard game against China, the host country, in Xiamen, China. Al Gharafa Doha (D1) inked 30-year old American guard Michael Taylor (186-85kg-86, college: Iowa State). He already started the season at Homenetmen in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. The last season Taylor played at Al Moutahed (also in Pepsi LBL) where in 28 games he recorded very impressive stats: 20.9ppg and 7.0rpg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Hebeisen White Wings Hanau (ProA) tabbed 25-year old American guard Sherwood Brown (193-90kg-91, college: FGCU). He played most recently at Byblos Sporting Club in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. In 10 games he averaged 10.7ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.3apg last season. Brown helped them to win the Supercup.
