The University Of Balamand (UOB) and the Lebanese American University next to the University of Saint-Joseph (The Hosts) are the qualifiers to the Group stage of the tournament from Lebanon. Also the Russian Delegation is the first to arrive to Lebanon.

The University Of Balamand (UOB) and the Lebanese American University next to the University of Saint-Joseph (The Hosts) are the qualifiers to the Group stage of the tournament from Lebanon. Also the Russian Delegation is the first to arrive to Lebanon.
In the First stage of the knock-out between the Lebanese universities to assure a spot in the group stage, 4 games were played. The First one was between the University Of Balamand (UOB) and the University Of Sagesse (ULS) which ended up with a win for UOB 53-52. In the second game the American University Of Beirut (AUB) won over Beirut Arabic University (BAU) (28-27).Also the Lebanese American University (LAU) defeated the Antonine University (UPA) 52-46.At the end the American University of Science and Technology (AUST) won over the Lebanese International (LIU) 43-32.
In the final stage of qualifying, Balamand University captured a crucial win in a very dramatic match which ended after Overtime 48-46 against the American University Of Science And Tech. On the other hand, the universities DERBY of Beirut was won by the Lebanese American University (35-30) against the American University OF Beirut. And on-line access to Beirut airport recorded a full-fledged arrival of the Russian Delegation, while delegations from Greece, Romania and Morocco are expected to arrive at dawn.

The Sport of the university had a press conference in the publicity building, which was attended by the general secretary of the university Fouad Maroun and the director of sports department Maroun Khoury, introducing the Beirut Unisports Festival which will be held between the 18th and the 21st of March [read more]
The Sport of the university had a press conference in the publicity building, which was attended by the general secretary of the university Fouad Maroun and the director of sports department Maroun Khoury, introducing the Beirut Unisports Festival which will be held between the 18th and the 21st of March.
After a welcoming speech, Maroun pointed out that the idea saw the light thanks to the experience of those responsible for the branch of sport and the experience of the players on the other hand, that they gained from their posts earlier, in addition to the excellent results achieved by the University of St. Joseph, culminating in the first place four times in a row in Milan 2006, Barcelona 2007 and Valencia 2008 and 2009, and aims Hosting to encourage cooperation between universities and give players room to get acquainted and show Lebanon in a new, modern and reinforce the status of the University of St. Joseph site.
Khoury explained the organizational matters of the festival, which will include 1500 athlete from 14 countries. Khoury revealed that the idea began in 2008 with a view to engaging with students, and hosting came from the excellent results achieved by the university, and the event was delayed two years because of security conditions.
The event will include 16 contests: football, mini (male and female), football halls (male), basketball (males and females), volleyball (male and female), and volleyball (OUTDOOR), Tennis (male and female), Handball (M), table tennis (male and female), swimming, chess and athletics (male and female), and games culture. Also a big thank to the local associations which cooperated to ensure that referees are arranged for all games. These games will be held on the courts of Jamhour high school and Michel el Murr Stadium in Bouchrieh.
Universities from different countries will attend the event including:Algeria, Bahrain, Syria, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Russia, Kuwait, and the host country Lebanon
The festival will feature concerts daily recreational and cultural activities arranged by the university students.
