D1 Round 9: Al Kuwait keeps a leadership position - Jan 24, 2017

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Kuwait as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Kuwait smashed 4th placed Al Arabi in Kuwait City 82-63. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Arabi. Al Kuwait (7-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Kazma. Al Arabi at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Al Farwaniya. Ninth ranked Al Tadhamon (2-5) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 10th ranked Al Sulaibikhat (1-6) 63-61 on Friday evening. Al Tadhamon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al Yarmook. Al Sulaibikhat lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Al Sahel and Al Shabab. Al Tadhamon will play against Al Sahel (#9) in Abu Halifa in the next round. Al Sulaibikhat will play at home against Al Nasar to get more than just one victory in their record.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Al Tadhamon won against Al Shabab on the opponent's court 73-66. Al Yarmook managed to outperform Al Sulaibikhat in a home game 74-67. Al Qadsia managed to beat Al Sahel on the road 88-72.

Al Shabab - Al Tadhamon 66-73

Everything could happen in Al Ahmadi at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Al Tadhamon and 8th ranked Al Shabab had identical 1-5 record. But Al Shabab was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Al Farwaniya 73-66. Al Tadhamon (2-5) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al Yarmook. Al Shabab lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Al Sahel and Al Sulaibikhat. Al Tadhamon will play against Al Sahel (#9) in Abu Halifa in the next round. Al Shabab will play on the road against Al Yarmook in Yarmouk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Al Yarmook - Al Sulaibikhat 74-67

Everything could happen in Yarmouk at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Al Yarmook and 10th ranked Al Sulaibikhat had identical 1-5 record. This time Al Yarmook used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Sulaibikhat 74-67. Al Yarmook maintains seventh place with 2-5 record, which they share with Al Tadhamon. Al Sulaibikhat lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Al Sahel and Al Shabab. Al Yarmook will play against Al Shabab (#10) in Al Ahmadi in the next round. Al Sulaibikhat will play at home against Al Nasar to get more than just one victory in their record.

Kuwait SC win 2016-2017 League title - 4 months ago
The Kuwait SC on Wednesday won its 9th title of the Kuwaiti Basketball League, 2016-2017, beating Kazma SC 81-61. The Kuwait players offered strong performance and realized a well-deserved win, raising the team's points to 19, and seized awarded the title of the 54th edition of the league.
