D1 Round 8: Al Kuwait lose to Al Nasar - Jan 20, 2017

There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and favorites losing the games.

The biggest surprise took place in An Nasr where host Al Nasar (3-4) edged league's leader Al Kuwait (6-1) 69-66 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Al Kuwait. Al Nasar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 3-4 record. Al Kuwait at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Kazma. Al Kuwait will play next round against strong Al Arabi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kuwait City - Al Arabi. Al Nasar will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.

They share the position with Al Arabi.

The game in Sulaibikhat supposed to be also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Al Qadsia (4-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Al Sulaibikhat (1-4). Al Qadsia smashed Al Sulaibikhat 93-64 on Sunday. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 4-1 record. Al Sulaibikhat lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with four games lost. Al Qadsia will face Al Sahel (#9) in Abu Halifa in the next round. Al Sulaibikhat will play on the road against Al Yarmook in Yarmouk and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 8 Al Nasar was defeated by Al Arabi in Kuwait City 70-63.

Kazma - Al Sahel 88-55

There was no surprise in Kuwait City where 6th ranked Al Nasar (3-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Al Arabi (5-2) 70-63 on Sunday. Al Arabi have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jahraa. Loser Al Nasar keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kuwait City to the arena Al Kuwait.

Kuwait SC win 2016-2017 League title - 6 months ago
The Kuwait SC on Wednesday won its 9th title of the Kuwaiti Basketball League, 2016-2017, beating Kazma SC 81-61. The Kuwait players offered strong performance and realized a well-deserved win, raising the team's points to 19, and seized awarded the title of the 54th edition of the league. Eighth-ranked Al Sahel (2-8) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Al Nasar (6-4) in An Nasr on Monday. Al Nasar managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected easier game.
