D1 Round 5: Leader Kazma loses to Al Kuwait - Jan 6, 2017

Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Kazma (3-1) in Kuwait City on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Al Kuwait (4-0) 86-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kazma. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Kuwait have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Kazma at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Al Qadsia and Al Jahraa. Al Kuwait will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kazma will play on the road against Al Sulaibikhat and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in Kuwait City. Sixth ranked Al Arabi (2-2) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging second-ranked Al Qadsia (3-1) 86-84 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Qadsia. Al Arabi moved-up to fifth place. Defending champion Al Qadsia keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Al Jahraa and Kazma. Al Arabi will play against bottom-ranked Al Tadhamon (#11) in Al Farwaniya in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Qadsia will have a break next round.
Al Nasar can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Tadhamon (0-3) 60-39 on Thursday. Al Nasar (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Al Sahel. It was Al Tadhamon's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Al Nasar will meet higher ranked Al Yarmook (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Tadhamon will play against Al Arabi (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Al Jahraa. Local Al Jahraa (3-1) beat 6th ranked Al Sulaibikhat (1-2) 70-55. Al Jahraa moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Qadsia and Kazma. Al Sulaibikhat at the other side keeps the sixth position with two games lost. Al Jahraa's next round opponent will be Al Shabab (#6) in Al Ahmadi. Al Sulaibikhat will play at home against Kazma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

D1 top team - Kazma (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Al Tadhamon (2-8) in Kuwait City 80-40. Kazma have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Al Tadhamon lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. The game in Abu Halifa was also worth to mention about.
