D1 Round 23: Kazma beats Al Qadsia in a derby game - Jan 9, 2013

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kuwait City: Kazma (#3) and Al Qadsia (#2). Kazma (11-2) crushed visiting Al Qadsia (10-2) by 24 points 101-77. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Kazma have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Al Qadsia at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Al Sahel.
Bottom-ranked Al Shabab managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses. This time they won against seventh-ranked Al Nasar in Al Ahmadi 69-65. Al Shabab (2-12) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Al Salmiyah. Al Nasar lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Al Sulaibikhat.
A very close game took place in Al Farwaniya between Al Tadhamon and Al Salmiyah. Eleventh ranked Al Tadhamon (2-10) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Al Salmiyah (2-12). Al Tadhamon managed to escape with a 2-point win 59-57 in the game for the tenth place. Al Tadhamon moved-up to tenth place. Al Salmiyah lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Al Shabab.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Kuwait City. Local Al Arabi (8-5) outscored 8th ranked Al Sulaibikhat (5-8) 107-76. Al Arabi maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Al Sulaibikhat lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost.


Al Shabab - Al Nasar 69-65

Coincidentally all visitors won their games. The most exciting game of round 7 in the D1 took place in Yarmouk. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Al Yarmook (1-4) to fifth ranked Al Arabi (4-2) 72-70 on Thursday evening. Kazma club in Kuwait signed experienced veteran 34-year old forward Abdullah Al Sarraf (190-F-82) from Al Arabi. He is 1.90 meters, and the list of his achievements is quite long. He has played in the league since just 2012, but was also voted Asia-Basket.com, All-Kuwait League Guard of the Year in 2014. Al Sarraf played at the Arab Club Championships nine years ago.
