D1 Round 8: Al Kuwait reach 5-0 record on top - Nov 28, 2012

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kuwait City: Kazma (#5) and Al Arabi (#6). Kazma (4-1) won against visiting Al Arabi (3-3) 66-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Arabi. Kazma moved-up to second place. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Yarmook. Kazma will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Arabi will play at home against Al Salmiyah (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kuwait City. Top-ranked Al Kuwait faced 4th ranked Al Sahel. Host Al Kuwait (5-0) defeated guests from Abu Halifa (3-2) 80-72. Undefeated Al Kuwait have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Al Sahel at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Al Sulaibikhat left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Al Jahraa. Al Sulaibikhat will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Jahraa will play against Al Qadsia (#4) in Kuwait City.

Al Yarmook moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al Arabi. Al Shabab at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Coincidentally all visitors won their games. The most exciting game of round 7 in the D1 took place in Yarmouk. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Al Yarmook (1-4) to fifth ranked Al Arabi (4-2) 72-70 on Thursday evening. Kazma club in Kuwait signed experienced veteran 34-year old forward Abdullah Al Sarraf (190-F-82) from Al Arabi. He is 1.90 meters, and the list of his achievements is quite long. He has played in the league since just 2012, but was also voted Asia-Basket.com, All-Kuwait League Guard of the Year in 2014. Al Sarraf played at the Arab Club Championships nine years ago.
