An exciting game was played in Astana. Leader Astana faced second-ranked Barsy Atyrau. Host Astana (16-0) smashed guests from Atyrau (5-9) 94-68. The game was mostly controlled by Astana. Barsy Atyrau managed to win third quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Astana dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy Atyrau's 28. They outrebounded Barsy Atyrau 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. Astana looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Barsy Atyrau's players. The best player for the winners was Greek Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) who scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Dmitriy Gavrilov (203-86) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. The former international swingman Pavel Ilin (196-92) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Astana have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-0 record. Defending champion Barsy Atyrau keeps the second position with nine games lost. Astana will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Barsy Atyrau will play at home against Kaspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
