Forward Vasiliy Petrashinets (198-F-89) had a very impressive game in the last round for top-ranked Tobol, receiving a Asia-basket.com Higher League Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage). The 27-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 15 rebounds, while his team outclassed Kazygurt (#4, 3-12) with 50-point margin 117-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Tobol to consolidate first place in the Kazakhstan Higher League. Tobol have a solid 12-3 record. In the team's last game Petrashinets had a remarkable 88.2% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Tobol and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Vasiliy Petrashinets averages this season 14.8ppg and 5.1rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was another Tobol's star - 27-year old Anton Bykov (200-F-89). Bykov had a very good evening with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course together with Petrashinets he helped Tobol with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Kapshagay (#2, 9-6) 92-67. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Tobol consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just three games this Second Stage, while they won 12 matches. Bykov is a newcomer at Tobol, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.9ppg (#4). He also registered 10.8 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was Russian center Vsevolod Fadeikin (206-C-85) of Almat.Legion (#3). Fadeikin scored 27 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Fadeikin's great performance Almat.Legion lost 95-96 to #4 ranked Kazygurt. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Almat.Legion ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Fadeikin could help Almat.Legion to bring them higher in the standings. Fadeikin has a great season in Kazakhstan. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.8ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 7.8rpg (4th best). Vsevolod Fadeikin has also Kazakhstan passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
