The biggest surprise of round 3 in Higher League took place in Kostanay where host Tobol (9-3) edged Kapshagay (8-4) 80-77 on Monday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Kapshagay helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Farid Karimullin (193-87) who scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Timur Sultanov (178-78) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Daniil Seleznev (186-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Kapshagay will play next round against strong Kazygurt trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tobol will try to continue on its current victory against Almat.Legion in Alma-Ata.
Tobol smashed Kazygurt in Kostanay 99-73. It was a good game for forward Anton Bykov (200-89) who led his team to a victory with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Vasiliy Petrashinets contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. point guard Viktor Sotov (173-78) answered with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for Kazygurt. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kazygurt will play next round against strong Kapshagay trying to get back on the winning streak. Tobol will try to continue on its current victory against Almat.Legion at Alma-Ata.

It was an exceptional evening for point guard Daniil Seleznev (186-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Andrey Moroy (198-99) accounted for 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Kapshagay players scored in double figures. Forward Ulykbek Polatov (189-98) came up with 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Zhandos Kaliyev (197-93) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Kazygurt in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kapshagay's next round opponent will be Almat.Legion (#3) in Alma-Ata, which may be the game of the day. Kazygurt will play again on the road against Kapshagay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
