Very significant was Astana's (#1, 10-0) victory against 3rd placed Kaspiy Aktau (0-10) 72-53. Astana made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game, while Kaspiy Aktau only scored nine points from the stripe. Astana forced 22 Kaspiy Aktau turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Kaspiy Aktau helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Greek Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Rustam Yargaliev (195-86) helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international forward Vitaliy Lapchenko (207-92) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Kaspiy Aktau's coach Renato Martinez rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Astana (10-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Kaspiy Aktau at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Astana are again looking forward to face bottom-ranked Kaspiy Aktau (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kaspiy Aktau will have a break next round.

Muratbey Usak Sportlif Basketbol (BSL) agreed terms with 26-year old American guard Ian Miller (190-84kg-91, college: Florida State). He played last season at BK Astana in Kazakhstan National League. Kazakhstan edged Kyrgyzstan to enter FIBA Asia Cup to be held August 8-20 in Lebanon. Kazakhstan posted an 81-71 win for the ticket to Beirut. Both teams looked good at the first period, while Kazakhstan dominated the second quarter and took the decent lead to control the game. Kyrgyzstan reduced the gap from 20 points to 10, but could not save the game.
