There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in Higher League. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the Higher League took place in Alma-Ata. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of Almat.Legion (3-6) to Kazygurt (2-7) 83-80 on Friday evening. Kazygurt forced 20 Almat.Legion turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Almat.Legion helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Zhandos Kaliyev (197-93) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Balabiy Agabek (193-96) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The former international center Vsevolod Fadeikin (206-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds. Almat.Legion's coach Nikolaj Tanaseychuk tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kazygurt are looking forward to face Tobol in Kostanay in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Almat.Legion will play on the road against Kapshagay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Tobol (6-3) against Kazygurt (2-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Tobol was crushed by Kazygurt in Shymkent 97-75. Forward Zhandos Kaliyev (197-93) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Viktor Sotov supported him with 23 points and 7 assists. Kazygurt's coach Muslim Shakirov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds by forward Anton Bykov (200-89) did not help to save the game for Tobol. Kazygurt will again play against Tobol in Kostanay in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tobol will play on the road against Almat.Legion in Alma-Ata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Almat.Legion will play on the road against Kapshagay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kapshagay. host Kapshagay (7-2) smashed Kazygurt (2-7) 82-62. Kapshagay dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Kazygurt's 26. They outrebounded Kazygurt 45-27 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kapshagay looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Daniil Seleznev (186-90) who scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international swingman Konstantin Dvirniy (192-88) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Kirill Nikulochkin (190-88) produced 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and forward Balabiy Agabek (193-96) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests.
