Higher League round 6 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Kapshagay (5-1) against third ranked Almat.Legion (5-1) 96-85 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Kapshagay. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Almat.Legion looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Vsevolod Fadeikin (206-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. International guard Yuriy Kozhanov (190-90) contributed with 18 points for the winners. point guard Daniil Seleznev (186-90) replied with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for Kapshagay. Kapshagay's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Almat.Legion have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tobol and Kapshagay. Kapshagay will play next round against Barsy-2 trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Almat.Legion will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Kaspiy-2 in Aktau.
Bottom-ranked Kaspiy-2 is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fifth ranked Kazygurt (4-2) 98-49. Forward Zhandos Kaliyev (197-93) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Alymzhan Maxutov chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Bogdan Ivanchikin (175-0) with 20 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kazygurt moved-up to fourth place. Kaspiy-2 at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Kazygurt will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kaspiy-2 will play at home against the league's leader Almat.Legion (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
A very close game took place in Astana between Tigers Ast. and Okzetpes. Ninth ranked Tigers Ast. (2-4) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Okzetpes (2-4). Tigers Ast. managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 in the fight for the seventh place. Sergey Datlik notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks by Vladimir Ivanov did not help to save the game for Okzetpes. Tigers Ast. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Okzetpes. Tigers Ast. will meet league's second-placed Tobol in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Okzetpes will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 6 Irtysh was smashed by Tobol on the road 95-53.

Tigers Ast. - Okzetpes 72-71

A very close game took place in Astana between Tigers Ast. and Okzetpes. Ninth ranked Tigers Ast. (2-4) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Okzetpes (2-4). Tigers Ast. managed to escape with a 1-point win 72-71 in the fight for the seventh place. Tigers Ast. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Swingman Sergey Datlik (192-86) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Evgeniy Ermakov (188-89) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Tigers Ast. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks by center Vladimir Ivanov (203-94) did not help to save the game for Okzetpes. Guard Viktor Gassman (184-92) added 21 points and 8 rebounds. Tigers Ast. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Okzetpes. Tigers Ast. will meet league's second-placed Tobol in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Okzetpes will have a break next round.

Tobol - Irtysh 95-53

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Tobol (5-1) crushed 8th ranked Irtysh (1-5) in Kostanay 95-53 on Monday. Tobol dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Irtysh's 44. Tobol forced 32 Irtysh turnovers and outrebounded them 35-24 including 20 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Forward Anton Bykov (200-89) notched 24 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) to lead the effort and forward Vasiliy Petrashinets (198-89) supported him with 13 points. Even 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by I. Eremenko did not help to save the game for Irtysh. Forward Askar Ahmetzhan (196-97) added 8 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tobol keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Almat.Legion and Kapshagay. Irtysh lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Tobol will meet at home Tigers Ast. (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Irtysh will play against Bars and hope to win that game.
