American Point guard Robert Lowery (188-PG-87) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Astana, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, seven rebounds and nine assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Kaspiy Aktau (#3, 0-6) with 35-point margin 92-57. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Astana to consolidate first place in the Kazakhstan D1. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Astana already had a very good start winning all 6 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Lowery had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Astana's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Dayton star has very solid stats this year. Lowery is in league's top in points (2nd best: 21.8ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 7.8rpg) and averages impressive 4.8spg,62.2% FGP and 40.7% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was another Astana's star - 28-year old former international Anton Ponomaryov (209-C/F-88, agency: BeoBasket). Ponomaryov had a very good evening with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course together with Lowery he helped Astana with another comfortable win 70-52 over Kaspiy Aktau (#3, 0-6) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Astana consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 6 games without any defeat. Ponomaryov is one of the most experienced players at Astana and similarly like Robert Lowery has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.3ppg (#6). He also registered 5.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Astana's star - international swingman Rustam Murzagaliyev (196-G/F-92). Murzagaliyev scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was another key player of Astana, helping his team with a 92-57 easy win against #3 ranked Kaspiy Aktau. Astana started extremely well this year. They recorded 6 victories without losing a single game. Murzagaliyev turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Murzagaliyev has a great season in Kazakhstan. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.0apg (6th best).

Defending champion BK Astana (National League) re-signed 31-year old international swingman Rustam Yargaliyev (195-92kg-86). He has played there for the last fourteen seasons. In 16 National League games he recorded 11.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.9apg and 1.7spg last season. Yargaliyev helped them to win the league title and the cup. BK Astana (National League) landed 30-year old American forward Larry Gordon (196-98kg-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona). He played most recently at SC Rasta Vechta in German BBL league. In 15 games he averaged 6.5ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.1apg last season. Gordon also played that season for Sonic Boom in South Korean KBL where in 19 games he had 14.9ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.1apg and 1.3spg.
