Barsy Atyrau clinched D1 title. They overcame BC Astana in the third game of the championship series and captured the trophy. Barsy Atyrau earned the first D1 title since 2012 breaking up BC Astana's dominance. Five players scored in double digits for the champions.
Astana claimed a 25:20 lead ten minutes into the game. The teams traded baskets throughout the second term. BC Astana eked out a 41:40 halftime advantage. However Barsy Atyrau turned things around in the second half. The visitors pulled ahead in the third term building a 62:50 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Barsy Atyrau protected the lead throughout the final stanza and rallied to the decisive win. Ryan Cook (190-G-90, college: UMBC) finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Mikhail Evstigneev (202-F/C-84) added 15 points for the winning side. Alexey Zhukanenko (210-F-86, agency: Alti Sport) and Jerry Johnson (182-PG-82, college: Rider, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 15 points each for BC Astana.

BK Barsy Atyrau (National League) added to their roster 28-year old American guard John Taylor (185-86kg-89, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Promotex). He already started the season at Chicago Fury (ABA) in the U.S. The last summer Taylor played at Pueblo Nuevo (Santiago League) in Dominican Republic. National League teams confirmed after two qualifying rounds in the League. Kapshagay, Kaspiy Aktau, Tobol and Barsy Atyrau joined Astana after sweeping the series against their opponents. Tobol beat Sinegorye 101-76 in game 3 as Anton Bykov (200-F-89) stepped up with 29 points. BK Barsy Atyrau (National League) inked 30-year old American forward Da'Quan Cook (205-100kg-87, college: St.Bonaventure).
