BC Astana (D1) strengthened their roster with addition of 28-year old American (has also Montenegrin passport) guard Brion Rush (186-76kg-84, college: Grambling State, agency: Beo Basket). He already started the season at ES Chalon-Sur-Saone in French ProA. In 8 Euroleague games this season he recorded 13.9ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1spg. He also played 8 games in ProA where he averaged 14.0ppg, 2.6rpg and 2.8apg. The last season Rush played at Krasnie Krilya in Russian league. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he was exposed to basketball on different levels. In two EuroChallenge games last year he averaged 10.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.0apg and 2.5spg. Rush also played 19 games in VTB United League where he averaged impressive 15.8ppg, 3.5rpg, 3.1apg and 1.8spg. He also played 20 games in Russian PBL where he was second best scorer with impressive 16.7ppg and had 3.8rpg, 3.4apg and 1.5spg. He helped them to win the cup. Great season indeed as he was voted to Eurobasket.com Russian PBL All-Imports Team. Rush received Eurobasket.com All-Russian A Superleague Import Player of the Year award in 2010. He is a very experienced player. Rush has played also professionally in Italy (Fileni BPA Jesi), SEBL (Black Monopoly) and Russia (Triumph Lyubertsy). He attended Grambling State until 2006 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball.

He has been the member of the Kazakhstan National Team since 2005. The centre also played for U18, U20 and University National Teams. Anton Ponomaryov shone at the 2009 Asian Championship in China. He tallied 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game at the tournament.

BC Astana trailed by 18 points at halftime and as many as 25 after three quarters before a 28-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 67-76 at the end of the game. Dairis Bertans (192-SG-89) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Dairis Bertans scored 13 and Antanas Kavaliauskas (207-C-84, agency: Interperformances, college: Texas A&M) added 11. At the other side the best for losing team was David Simon (208-C-82, college: IPFW) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and Jerry Johnson (182-PG-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Rider) added 18 points respectively.
