Azad University Tehran (Superleague) agreed terms with 33-year old Jordanian ex-international forward Zaid Abbas (203-92kg-83). He just played at Byblos Sporting Club in Lebanese Pepsi LBL. In 5 games he had 8.4ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.6apg and 1.4spg this season. This season Abbas played at Club Africain (Division I) in Tunisian league. The last season he played at Shanxi Zhongyu (CBA) in Chinese league. In 34 games he recorded 12.4ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.6spg.
The previous (13-14) season Abbas played at TianJin Steel (CBA) in Chinese league. In 36 games he recorded 13.9ppg, 12.1rpg, 2.3apg and 1.8spg in 2013-14 season.
In 12-13 season he played at Shandong Bulls (CBA) in Chinese league. In 39 games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.9ppg, 11.4rpg, 2.1apg and 2.1spg in 2012-13 season. He helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team. Quite impressive season as he was named to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA 1st Team and All-Imports Team.
In the summer of 2012 Abbas played at Orthodox (Premier League) in Jordan. He contributed to his team winning the league title. Abbas also represented Jordan at the Asian Championships in Changsha-Hunan (China) last year. His stats at that event were 8 games: 13.0ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.4apg, Steals-4 (2.0spg), FGP: 48.5%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 56.1%.
Abbas has played previously professionally in China (Beijing Ducks, Shanghai Sharks and Fujian) and Jordan (Zain, Arena and ASU).

Al Ahli celebrate League 2017/2018 title - 14 days ago
Al Ahli celebrated Jordan Basketball League 2017/2018 title. In the Final stage they beat kafr yoba 82-80 in the last game. Being tied at 62:62 both teams stayed within 1-2 points at the end of the game as Al Ahli grabbed the valuable win. Later Al Riyadi Aramex beat Jazira 82-75 and Orthodox edged Star Jordan 93-82. WABA Champions Cup 2018 relocated to Jordan from Iraq - 3 months ago
West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) officials have announced that the WABA Champions Cup 2018 will be relocated to Jordan from Iraq - with the tournament dates remaining March 12-16. The WABA decided to change the hosting country of the 18th edition of the Champions Cup due to security concerns of the players in Baghdad.
