Philippines edge Jordan in Day 1 of the 2012 William Jones Cup. Philippines won over the opponents 88:78 in the third game of the tournament.
Philippines won the first period 25-16, but Jordan looked outstanding in the second frame. The latter erupted with 23-11 and grabbed 39:37 at the halftime. Philippines meanwhile responded with 30-15 in the third period and never looked behind after. They did not mind 22-24 in the last period to seal the victory in the opener.
Marcus Douthit (210-C/F-80, agency: Edge Sports, college: Providence) top-scored for the winners with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Gary David (188-G/F-78) posted 14. Jeffrei Chan (192-F-83) notched 11 and Larry Fonacier (190-F/G-82) had 10. Rasheim Wright (192-G-81, college: District of Col.) replied with 24 points in the losing effort and Hussein Mohammad had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Mahmoud Abdeen (189-PG-87) poured in 14, while Khaldoon ABU RUQAYAH had 10.

Fortituto Kontatto Bologna (Serie A2) re-signed 29-year old Jordanian ex-international guard Alex Legion (195-88, college: FIU, agency: Octagon Europe). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Legion was a team leader there last season. In 24 Serie A2 games he averaged impressive 15.3ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2spg. Jordan 3x3 tournament gets FIBA recognition - 3 months ago
FIBA, the world governing body for basketball , has upgraded a tournament being held in Jordan next week so that it now becomes an avenue towards qualifying for a World Tour, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.
