Best players of Japanese B League D3 round 9 - Dec 6, 2017

Chris
Olivier
American Chris Olivier (203-F-92) had a great game in the last round for Kagoshima and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com B League D3 Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 35 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Tokyo Cinq R. (#8, 2-6) 100-88. Thanks to this victory Kagoshima moved-up to the 7th position in Japanese B League D3. Kagoshima is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-5 record. In the team's last game Olivier had a remarkable 65.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Kagoshima's top player in his first season with the team. Oklahoma State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Olivier is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.4ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 11.1rpg) and averages solid 1.3bpg and 59.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Kyle Richardson (201-F-91) of Otsuka A.. Richardson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 31 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Otsuka A. was edged by the lower-ranked Tokyo Excel. (#6, 3-3) 83-80. Otsuka A. managed to keep the same 3rd spot in the standings. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Richardson is a newcomer at Otsuka A. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.0ppg (#4). He also registered 13.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Bryan Simpson (197-F-84) of Tokyo Big Blue (#9). Simpson scored 21 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). Despite Simpson's great performance Tokyo Big Blue lost 62-81 to the higher-ranked Aisin AW (#5, 3-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Tokyo Big Blue can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 6 games. Too bad for Simpson he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Simpson has a very solid season. In 6 games in Japan he scored 15.7ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Darnell Martin (198-F-91) of Kagoshima - 27 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Eve Nyokozera (199-C-93) of Aisin AW - 13 points and 12 rebounds
6. Jordan Faison (201-F-94) of Tokyo Excel. - 25 points and 12 rebounds
7. Brennan McElroy (201-F-91) of Tokyo HT - 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Ikishima Ikejima (188-G-94) of Aisin AW - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Justin Herold (203-PF-91) of Tokyo Excel. - 23 points and 5 rebounds
10. Patrick Simon (203-F-92) of Toyoda Gosei - 25 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
