Cyrus Tate
Zonkeys de Tijuana (CIBACOPA) agreed terms with 32-year old American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-120kg-85, college: Iowa). It is actually his comeback to Tijuana Zonkeys as he has played here before. Tate He moved there from Saitama Broncos in Japanese B League D3 where he started the season. In 28 games he had 11.0ppg and 7.6rpg this season. Tate also played that season for Kagoshima (B League) in Japanese league. In four B League D3 games he recorded 9.8ppg and 6.8rpg.
In 2010 (a year after he left the college) Tate was drafted by Bakersfield Jam (D-League) as #5 pick overall.
He attended University of Iowa until 2009 and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Tate won Israeli National League championship title in 2013. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Mexican CIBACOPA Honorable Mention back in 2011 and 2012.
Tate is quite experienced player. He has played in five different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Tate has played previously professionally in Turkey (Final Genclik), Venezuela (Espartanos), Japan (Sanen Neophoenix, Orange Vikings and Fukuoka Rizing), Israel (Ironi Nes Ziona) and Mexico (Huracanes).
He could be described: A strong player who gives his best in banging inside and in tough defense. Has a limited range, but makes his job done offensively shooting very near to the basket.
