Best players of Japanese B League D3 round 20 - Apr 18, 2017

Brian Butch
Experienced American Brian Butch (211-C-84) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Fukuoka Rizing and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com B League D3 Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 32-year old center had a double-double of 20 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team crushed Saitama Bron. (#7, 12-24) with 23-point margin 98-75. Fukuoka Rizing maintains the 2nd position in Japanese B League D3. They are still close to the very top. Fukuoka Rizing would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 32-4 record. In the team's last game Butch had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Fukuoka Rizing, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Wisconsin graduate has very impressive stats this year. Butch is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 9.6rpg) and averages solid 64.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American forward R.J. Slawson (206-F-92) of Tokyo Cinq R.. Slawson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Of course Tokyo Cinq R. cruised to a 93-84 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Tokyo HT (#3, 24-12). Tokyo Cinq R.'s 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 14-22 record. Slawson is a newcomer at Tokyo Cinq R. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Alex Jones (206-F/C-87) of Tokyo HT (#3). Jones scored 18 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Tokyo HT, leading his team to a 90-81 win against slightly lower-ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (#5, 14-22). Tokyo HT needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 24 victories and 12 lost games. Jones has a great season in Japan. After 40 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.2rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Brian Harper (208-F-85) of Tokyo HT - 24 points and 9 rebounds
5. Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-F-88) of Fukuoka Rizing - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Tony Bishop (201-F-89) of Kanazawa Sam. - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Josh Peppers (201-F-85) of Fukuoka Rizing - 21 points and 8 rebounds
8. Edward Morris (204-C/F-84) of Tokyo HT - 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Josiah Heath (205-F/C-93) of Tokyo Cinq R. - 15 points and 8 rebounds
10. Joe Wolfinger (216-C-85) of Otsuka A. - 12 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
