The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets.

Second-ranked Toyota Alvark (36-13) was very close to win a game against first ranked Tochigi Brex (40-9) on Sunday. Tochigi Brex managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) contributed with 7 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Tochigi Brex's coach Thomas Wisman used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) answered with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Toyota Alvark. Tochigi Brex have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 40-9 record. Toyota Alvark lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with 13 games lost. Tochigi Brex are looking forward to face Chiba Jets (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Shiga. Sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (12-37) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Osaka Evessa (23-26) 68-65 on Sunday evening. It was a great evening for Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Craig Brackins helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shiga L-Stars maintains sixth place with 12-37 record. Osaka Evessa at the other side dropped to the third position with 26 games lost. They share it with Nagoya DD. Shiga L-Stars will play against league's second-placed Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Osaka Evessa will play at home against Kyoto Hannar. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Loser Hitachi Sunrockers dropped to the second position with 25 games lost. They share it with Ryukyu GK. Toyama Grouses will meet at home higher ranked Niigata Albirex (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Yokohama BC and hope to secure a win.

It was a good game for Josh Childress who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Sanen Neophoenix's coach Hiroki Fujita used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Sanen Neophoenix maintains second place with 27-22 record having fourteen points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the fourth position with 28 games lost. Sanen Neophoenix will face league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 51: Chiba Jets smashed Akita NH on the road 95-73. Yokohama BC was destroyed by Toshiba BT on its own court 57-77. Kyoto Hannar. unfortunately lost to SeaHorses in Kariya 69-83.
The most impressive performance of 51th round was 22 points and 8 rebounds by Gavin Edwards of SeaHorses.

Toyama Grouses - Hitachi SR 79-70

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (24-25) against sixth ranked Toyama Grouses (14-35) on Sunday night. Visiting Hitachi Sunrockers were defeated by Toyama Grouses in a tough game in Toyama 70-79.
