Solomon
Alabi
Nigerian Solomon Alabi (216-C-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Toyotsu FE and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com B League D2 Player of the Week award for round 50.
The 28-year old center had a double-double of 33 points and ten rebounds, while his team beat Tokyo Z (#3, 20-29) 82-77. Toyotsu FE maintains the 2nd position in their group in Japanese B League D2. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Toyotsu FE will need more victories to improve their 34-14 record. It's Alabi's second year at Toyotsu FE and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Florida State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Alabi is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.9ppg) and averages solid 1.4bpg and 53.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old Australian center Jordan Vandenberg (216-C-90) of league's best team Nishinomiya S.. Vandenberg impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds. Of course he led Nishinomiya S. to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Shinshu BW (#6, 12-37) 94-62. Of course Nishinomiya S. still keep Central's top spot. His team has currently 34-14 record. Vandenberg is a newcomer at Nishinomiya S. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Kyle Barone (208-C-89) of Aomori Watts (#5). Barone scored 27 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Barone's great performance Aomori Watts lost 65-70 to the higher-ranked Gunma (#1, 31-17). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Aomori Watts ranking at the top of East, however are very questionable as they have already lost 27 games, recording just twenty one victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Barone could help Aomori Watts to bring them higher in the standings. Barone has a great season in Japan. After 43 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.3ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 10.4rpg (8th best). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 51.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nicchaeus Doaks (201-F/C-87) of Iwate Big Bulls - 21 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Donald Lawson (208-C-88) of Iwate Big Bulls - 17 points and 14 rebounds
6. Rick Rickert (211-C/F-83) of Cyberdyne IR - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Josh Davis (203-F-91) of Shimane SM - 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Scootie Randall (198-F-90) of Cyberdyne IR - 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Chehales Tapscott (195-F-90) of Kagawa FA - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Kazuya
Hatano
Hatano is back at Shimane Magic - 8 days ago
Shimane Susanoo Magic (B League D2) signed experienced 35-year old naturalized Brazilian forward Kazuya Hatano (192-97kg-82). It is actually his comeback to Shimane Magic as he has played here before. Hatano played last season at Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa in the B League. In 60 games he had just 2.8ppg and 2.5rpg. B League D2 will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Hatano helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in B League West Division. H...   [read more]
