Butts' double-double lands him Player of the Week award - Mar 14, 2017

Isaac Butts
27-year old center Isaac Butts (208-C-89) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's best team SeaHorses and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 45.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 24 rebounds, while his team outclassed Sendai 89ers (#6, 11-32) with 32-point margin 107-75. It allowed SeaHorses to consolidate first place in the Japanese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. SeaHorses has a very solid 33-10 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. It's Butts' second year at SeaHorses and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Appalachian State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Butts is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 12.0rpg) and averages solid 67.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Olu Ashaolu (200-PF-88) of league's second-best Sanen. He is Nigerian-Canadian forward in his first season at Sanen. In the last game Ashaolu recorded impressive double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Sanen was edged by slightly lower-ranked Hokkaido L. (#4, 16-27) 73-71. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in East. Sanen still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 25-18 record is not bad at all. Ashaolu is a newcomer at Sanen and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Ryan Rossiter (204-F/C-89) of league's leader Tochigi Brex. Rossiter showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, twenty one rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Tochigi Brex, leading his team to a 100-62 easy win against #4 ranked Niigata Albirex. Tochigi Brex confirms their top position in Central. Their record at this point is 34 victories and 9 lost games. Rossiter has a great season in Japan. After 43 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 13.6rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Reyshawn Terry (203-F-84) of Ryukyu GK - 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Daniel Miller (211-C-91) of Hokkaido L. - 23 points, 18 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Jerome Tillman (201-F-87) of Nagoya DD - 26 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Jeffrey Gibbs (188-F-80) of Tochigi Brex - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Ira Brown (193-F-82) of Hitachi SR - 13 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Drew Viney (204-PF-88) of Toyama Grouses - 19 points and 12 rebounds
10. Makoto Hiejima (190-G/F-90) of SeaHorses - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
