The game between third ranked Niigata Albirex (19-19) and fourth ranked Kyoto Hannar. (19-19) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Niigata Albirex was defeated by Kyoto Hannar. in Niigata 75-85. The game was mostly controlled by Kyoto Hannar.. Niigata Albirex managed to win third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyoto Hannar. made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Kyoto Hannar. had a 33-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kyoto Hannar. made 8 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Niigata Albirex helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for Niigata Albirex. Kyoto Hannar. moved-up to third place, which they share with Niigata Albirex and Osaka Evessa. Kyoto Hannar. is looking forward to face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Chiba Jets (25-13) which played road game in Nagoya against second-best Diamond Dolphins (21-17). Third ranked Chiba Jets managed to get a 6-point victory 86-80. It was a great evening for American Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Michael Parker helped adding 17 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. The best for the losing side was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) with 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Chiba Jets have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 25-13 record having seven points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Diamond Dolphins at the other side keep the second position with 17 games lost. Chiba Jets will play against Akita Happinets (#5) at home in the next round. Diamond Dolphins will play against Ryukyu GK and hope to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Toshiba Thunders (32-6) which hosted in Kanagawa 3rd placed Osaka Evessa (19-19). First ranked Toshiba Thunders managed to get a 11-point victory 87-76. It was an exceptional evening for Nick Fazekas who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Shinnosuke Negoro came up with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Osaka Evessa in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toshiba Thunders maintains first place with 32-6 record. Loser Osaka Evessa keeps the third position with 19 games lost. They share it with Niigata Albirex and Kyoto Hannar.. Toshiba Thunders will meet Toyama Grouses (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Osaka Evessa will play against Shiga L-Stars and hope to secure a win.
An interesting game for Tochigi Brex (29-7) which hosted in Tochigi second-best Sanen Neophoenix (22-16). First ranked Tochigi Brex managed to get a 5-point victory 93-88. The best player for the winners was Jeffrey Gibbs who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Tochigi Brex have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 29-7 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Sanen Neophoenix at the other side keeps the second position with 16 games lost. Tochigi Brex's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sanen Neophoenix will play on the road against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 39 Toyota Alvark smashed Toyama Grouses on the road 100-81. Akita NH won against Yokohama BC on its own court 74-68.

Ryukyu GK - Hitachi SR 71-87

The game in Okinawa was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (17-19) played at the court of 5th ranked Ryukyu GK (16-22). Hitachi Sunrockers defeated Ryukyu GK 87-71 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-71. It was a good game for point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Yuki Mitsuhara (198-89) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Ryunosuke Watanabe (185-94) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Ryukyu GK. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Yokohama BC (14-24) lost on the road to fifth ranked Akita Happinets (11-27) 74-68 on Sunday. Yokohama BC trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 26-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-74 at the end of the game. It was a good game for Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Seiya Ando (184-92) contributed with 5 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International center Pape Faye (200-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Yokohama BC.
