Ryan Stephan
American Ryan Stephan (208-C-94) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Tokyo Excel. and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com B League D2 Player of the Week award for round 38.
The 22-year old center had a double-double of 25 points and fourteen rebounds, while his team crushed Kumamoto V. (#3, 28-8) with 20-point margin 109-89. Tokyo Excel. maintains the 4th position in their group in Japanese B League D2. Tokyo Excel. is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 13-22 record. Stephan turned to be Tokyo Excel.'s top player in his first season with the team. Mesa State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Stephan is in league's top in points (6th best: 16.8ppg), rebounds (7th best: 11.0rpg) and averages solid 1.0bpg and 54.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-F-90) of Kagawa FA. Tapscott impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Kagawa FA lost that game 85-92 to slightly higher-ranked Bambitious Nara (#5, 13-23). Kagawa FA managed to keep the same 5th spot in Central. 26 lost games are too many comparing to just ten victories Kagawa FA managed to get this year. Tapscott is a newcomer at Kagawa FA and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.9ppg (#3). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Canadian Chad Posthumus (211-C-91) of Shinshu BW (#6). Posthumus scored 17 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Posthumus' great performance Shinshu BW lost 62-65 to the higher-ranked Yamagata (#3, 19-17). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Shinshu BW can only dream about fighting for top spots in Central. They have rather bad season and 10-27 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Posthumus he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Posthumus has individually a great season in Japan. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.0rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Solomon Alabi (216-C-88) of Toyotsu FE - 27 points and 11 rebounds
5. Josh Davis (203-F-91) of Shimane SM - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-F-91) of Kagoshima - 16 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Rick Rickert (211-C/F-83) of Cyberdyne IR - 25 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Terrance Woodbury (201-G-87) of Bambitious Nara - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Scootie Randall (198-F-90) of Cyberdyne IR - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Daichi Shimoyama (181-G-89) of Aomori Watts - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
