Julius Ashby
30-year old power forward Julius Ashby (205-F/C-82) had a great game in the last round for Fukuoka Rizing and receives a Asia-basket.com BJ League Player of the Week award for round 19.
He had a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Okinawa GK (#1, 15-1) 86-74. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Fukuoka Rizing maintains the 4th position in Japanese BJ League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Fukuoka Rizing will need more victories to improve their 11-7 record. Ashby turned to be Fukuoka Rizing's top player in his first season with the team. Julius Ashby averages this season 15.1ppg and 8.2rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Wayne Marshall (211-C-86) of Shinshu BW. He is American center in his first season at Shinshu BW. In the last game Marshall recorded impressive double-double of 17 points and 20 rebounds. Of course Shinshu BW cruised to a 99-91 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Toyama Grouses (#4, 12-8). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Shinshu BW consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 12-6 record is not bad at all. Marshall is a newcomer at Shinshu BW and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Takuma Yamashiro (167-PG-85) of Saitama Bron. (#10). Yamashiro scored 25 points and grabbed twenty four rebounds (!!!). Despite Yamashiro's great performance Saitama Bron. lost 72-88 to the higher-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (#1, 13-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Saitama Bron. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Yamashiro he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Yamashiro has a very solid season. In 11 games in Japan he scored 10.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lewis Witcher (207-F/C-87) of Gunma - 14 points, 20 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Draelon Burns (194-G-85) of Yokohama BC - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists
6. Robert Johnson (203-C/F-81) of Takamatsu FA - 8 points and 21 rebounds
7. David Palmer (201-F-82) of Kyoto Hannar. - 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Ricky Woods (194-F/G-84) of Miyazaki SS - 32 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Adrian Thomas (200-F-87) of Hamamatsu P. - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Kevin Galloway (200-PG-88) of Hamamatsu P. - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
