American Xavier Gibson (210-F/C-88) had a great game in the last round for Osaka Evessa and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 34. The 29-year old power forward had the game-high 30 points adding eight rebounds and seven assists for Osaka Evessa in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Hokkaido L. (#5, 26-29) 86-83. Osaka Evessa maintains the 3rd position in their group in Japanese B League. Osaka Evessa is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 22-33 record. Gibson just recently signed at Osaka Evessa, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Xavier Gibson averages this season 16.5ppg and 8.4rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 34-year old American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-G/F-83) of Hokkaido L.. Thompson impressed basketball fans with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Hokkaido L. was edged by slightly higher-ranked Osaka Evessa (#3, 22-33) 86-83. Hokkaido L. managed to keep the same 5th spot in West. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 26-29 record. Thompson is one of the most experienced players at Hokkaido L. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
The third best performed player last round was Australian Venky Jois (202-F-93) of Shiga L-Stars (#4). Jois scored 22 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Shiga L-Stars, leading his team to a 90-77 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Nishinomiya S. (#5, 9-46). The chances of Shiga L-Stars not to end season at such low position in West, however are less than slim as they have already lost 34 games, recording just twenty one victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Jois could try to bring Shiga L-Stars' a little bit higher in the standings. Jois has a very solid season. In 26 games in Japan he scored 12.5ppg. He also has 6.9rpg and FGP: 56.4%.

American Forward Darnell Martin (198-F-91) had a very impressive game in the last round for Kagoshima, receiving a Interperformances B League D3 Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage). The 26-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out Tokyo Excel. (#3, 6-4) 91-89. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Kagoshima maintains the 4th position in Japanese B League D3. Kagoshima is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 5th lost game this season out of 10 games. Martin turned to be Kagoshima's top player in his first season with the team. Former Cal State - Dominguez Hills star has very solid stats this year. Martin is in league's top in points (7th best: 19.0ppg), rebounds (7th best: 9.8rpg), assists (7th best: 3.9apg) and averages impressive 57.1% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old American Kyle Richardson (201-F-91) of league's second-best Otsuka A.. Richardson had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds. Of course Otsuka A. cruised to a 92-84 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Saitama Bron. (#5, 3-7). Otsuka A.'s second position in the standings has not changed. His team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Richardson is a newcomer at Otsuka A., but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#6). He also registered 10.6 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Drew Martin (203-F-94, agency: Court Side) of Tokyo Cinq R. (#6). Martin got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds . Despite Martin's great performance Tokyo Cinq R. lost 75-93 to the higher-ranked Tokyo HT (#1, 9-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Tokyo Cinq R. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-9 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Martin he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Martin has individually a great season in Japan. After 42 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.2ppg (7th best), rebounds with 7.6rpg (7th best) and assists with 2.0apg (7th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Alex Jones (206-F/C-87) of Tokyo HT - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists 5.
