Daniel Fitzgerald joins Akita Happinets, ex Obras - Dec 9, 2012

Akita Northern Happinets (BJ League) agreed terms with 28-year old American forward Daniel Fitzgerald (206-84, college: Marquette). He already started the season at Obras in Argentinian LigaA. In 8 games this season he had 6.4ppg and 2.6rpg. The last season Fitzgerald also played at Sendai 89ers. In 52 BJ League games last year he recorded very impressive stats: 18.5ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.4apg and 1.5spg.
Fitzgerald was named to All-Japanese BJ League Honorable Mention in 2012.
The previous (10-11) season he played at ratiopharm Ulm in German BBL. In 10 games that season he recorded 8.3ppg and 1.0rpg.
He has played also professionally in Switzerland (SAM Massagno).
Fitzgerald is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.
He attended Marquette University until 2008 and it will be his fifth season as a professional player.

Japan Basketball Association dismisses men's national team coach Hasegawa - 4 hours ago

Since his appointment two years ago, Kenji Hasegawa has firmly developed the Japan men's national team. But with the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo on the horizon, for which the team has not been guaranteed a spot, the Japan Basketball Association made a daring decision. Deon Jones agreed terms with Earthfriends Tokyo Z - 8 hours ago

Earthfriends Tokyo Z (B League D2) inked 23-year old American guard Deon Jones (198-95kg-93). He just graduated from Monmouth (NCAA). Jones has played there for the last three years. In 31 games he recorded 10.4ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.1apg last season. Jones helped them to win the regular season and make it to the MAAC Tournament final.
