31-year old center Jeff Newton (205-C-81) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Okinawa GK and receives a Asia-basket.com BJ League Player of the Week award for round 11. He had a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Miyazaki SS (#10, 1-9) with 40-point margin 112-72. It allowed Okinawa GK to consolidate first place in the Japanese BJ League. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Okinawa GK keeps perfect 8 -0 record. Newton has many years of experience at Okinawa GK, through which he has constantly improved. Jeff Newton averages this season 12.3ppg and 9.4rpg.
Second best performed player last round was Wendell White (198-G-84, agency: Top Notch Sports) of league's second-best Oita H.Devils. He is American guard in his 2nd season at Oita H.Devils. In the last game White recorded impressive double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Oita H.Devils cruised to a 85-77 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Osaka Evessa (#9, 1-5). Oita H.Devils' second position in the standings has not changed. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 8 matches. White is well-known at Oita H.Devils and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.9ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 15.0rpg and 3.5apg.
Third place about best performers goes to center Jonathan Jones (211-C-79, agency: TSS Management) of Tokyo Cinq R. (#7). Jones got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for twelve rebounds . He was a key player of Tokyo Cinq R., leading his team to a 102-86 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Sendai 89ers (#9, 2-6). The chances of Tokyo Cinq R. ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Jones could help Tokyo Cinq R. to bring them higher in the standings. Jones has a great season in Japan. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.3ppg (best scorer).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Darnell Cox (211-C-85) of Osaka Evessa - 22 points and 11 rebounds 5. Chris Holm (212-C-84) of Niigata Albirex - 13 points and 11 rebounds 6. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
