Warren
31-year old forward Reginald Warren (204-F-81, agency: Top Notch Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Fukuoka Rizing and receives a Asia-basket.com BJ League Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 27 points and 18 rebounds, while his team beat Takamatsu FA (#7, 2-3) 85-77. Fukuoka Rizing maintains the 5th position in Japanese BJ League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Fukuoka Rizing will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Warren had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Fukuoka Rizing's top player in his first season with the team. University of West Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Warren is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 12.9rpg).

Second best performed player last round was Kevin Galloway (200-F-88, agency: Top Notch Sports) of Hamamatsu P.. He is American forward in his first season at Hamamatsu P.. In the last game Galloway recorded impressive triple-double of 13 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists. Of course he lead Hamamatsu P. to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Miyazaki SS (#8, 1-6) 112-77. Hamamatsu P.'s 3rd position in the standings has not changed. His team's 6-3 record is not bad at all. Galloway is a newcomer at Hamamatsu P. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 10.1rpg and 7.8apg.

Third place about best performers goes to another Hamamatsu P.'s star - forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-F-85, agency: Top Notch Sports). Parmer showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and eight assists in the last round. He was another key player of Hamamatsu P., helping his team with a 112-77 easy win against the lower-ranked Miyazaki SS (#8, 1-6). Hamamatsu P. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 3 lost games. Parmer has a very solid season. In 9 games in Japan he scored 14.9ppg. He also has 8.1rpg and 3.3apg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Chris Holm (212-C-84) of Niigata Albirex - 13 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Wendell White (198-G-84) of Oita H.Devils - 21 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Carlos Dixon (201-F-81) of Iwate Big Bulls - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists

10. Randall Orr (207-C/F-82) of Saitama Bron. - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Ryan Stephan is a newcomer at Tokyo Excellence - 16 hours ago

Tokyo Excellence (B League D2) strengthened their roster with addition of American center Ryan Stephan (208-113kg). He just graduated from Colorado Mesa (NCAA2). Akita Happinets welcome back Stephens, ex Chalons-Reims - 1 day ago

Akita Northern Happinets (B League) tabbed 27-year old American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-102kg-89, college: San Diego State). It is actually his comeback to Akita Happinets as he has played here before. Stephens played most recently at Chalons-Reims in French ProA. He managed to play in four leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 19 ProA games he averaged 8.9ppg and 3.8rpg. Stephens also played that season for Banvit in BSL. But in four games he had just 1.3ppg and 1.8rpg. He a...   [read more]
More uncertainty trailing former league stats - 3 days ago

According to Japan times, should statistical records from the bj-league, the JBL and its successor (NBL), the JBL2 and its successor (NBDL) be kept handy and recited frequently for the B. League? Or should the accomplishments of players and teams in Japan's men's basketball circuits be stored away and ignored, with the slate wiped clean for the upstart circuit? Statistical accomplishments help fans and the media gain knowledge and appreciation for players and teams, so starting from scr...   [read more]
