Tokyo Cinq Reves (BJ League) signed 26-year old American center Jared Carter (216-C-113kg-86, college: Kentucky, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management). Carter played most recently at Summerside Storm (Canada). While playing 32 games for Summerside S. last season his stats were: 5.2ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.1bpg (5th best in the league). He graduated from University of Kentucky in 2009 and it will be his fourth season in pro basketball.

Kawamura, who opted for free agency, was rumored to move to the Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dolphins, which will play for the new National Basketball League (NBL) next season.

The Saitama Broncos made a change on the bridge. They axed Tracy Williams and named Takatoshi Ishibashi the new head coach. Tracy Williams took over the Broncos at the start of the previous season. Saitama won just 15 games in 52 outings. Takatoshi Ishibashi guided the Shinshu Brave Warriors last season. He led the team to a 17-35 record and was fired after the result.
