Superleague Round 20: Nift Al-Janoub loses to Al Kahraba - Mar 31, 2017

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Superleague.

The most important game in the last round took place in Baghdad between third ranked Nift Al-Janoub (14-6) and fourth ranked Al Kahraba (14-5) on Sunday night. Nift Al-Janoub was defeated by Al Kahraba on the road 68-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nift Al-Janoub. Al Kahraba have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Nift Al-Janoub dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Al Kahraba are looking forward to face Al Mina (#5) in Basra in the next round. Nift Al-Janoub will play at home against Al Suleikh and is hoping to win this game.
Superleague top team - Al Shurtah (17-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat seventh ranked Al Hilla (10-9) 68-63. Al Shurtah maintains first position with 17-2 record. Newly promoted Al Hilla keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Al Shurtah's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Al Nift.
The game between sixth ranked Al Mina (11-6) and 8th ranked Al-Tadamoun (7-12) in Basra on Monday ended with biggest points difference. Al Mina outscored guests from Najef 102-65. Al Mina moved-up to fifth place. Al-Tadamoun lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Al Mina will meet at home higher ranked Al Kahraba (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al-Tadamoun will play against Al Karkh (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 20 Al Karkh was smashed by Al Nift on the road 93-74. Al Suleikh won against An Nasiriyah on its own court 67-55.

Al Kahraba - Nift Al-Janoub 78-68

The most important game in the last round took place in Baghdad between third ranked Nift Al-Janoub (14-6) and fourth ranked Al Kahraba (14-5) on Sunday night. Nift Al-Janoub was defeated by Al Kahraba on the road 68-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nift Al-Janoub. Al Kahraba have a solid four-game winning streak. Al Nift - Al Karkh 93-74

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Al Nift (16-2) crushed 5th ranked Al Karkh (11-8) in Baghdad 93-74 on Sunday. Al Nift have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-2 record behind leader Al Shurtah. Defending champion Al Karkh dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. Al Nift's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Baghdad to the arena Al Shurtah.

Al Suleikh - An Nasiriyah 67-55

Everything could happen in Baghdad at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Al Suleikh and 12th ranked An Nasiriyah had identical 1-17 record. This time Al Suleikh used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Nasiriyah 67-55 on Sunday night. Al Suleikh (2-17) moved-up to tenth place. An Nasiriyah lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 18 lost games. Al Suleikh will meet higher ranked Nift Al-Janoub (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. An Nasiriyah will have a break next round.

Al Mina - Al-Tadamoun 102-65

Nift Al-Janoub (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-104kg-84, college: Middle Tennessee State).
