Superleague Round 19: Al Mina is defeated by Nift Al-Janoub in a derby game - Mar 28, 2017

The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Basra: Nift Al-Janoub (#3) and Al Mina (#5). Nift Al-Janoub (14-5) won against visiting Al Mina (10-6) 81-71. Nift Al-Janoub have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Nift Al-Janoub maintains third place with 14-5 record having just one point less than leader Al Shurtah. Al Mina at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Nift Al-Janoub are looking forward to face Al Kahraba (#4) in Baghdad in the next round. Al Mina will play at home against Al-Tadamoun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Al Karkh was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Al Hilla (10-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Al Karkh (11-7). Al Karkh defeated Al Hilla 109-93. Al Karkh have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Al Hilla dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Al Karkh will play against league's second-placed Al Nift in Baghdad in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Hilla will play at home against the league's leader Al Shurtah (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Fourth ranked Al Kahraba (13-5) crushed at home 12th ranked An Nasiriyah (1-17) by 32 points 99-67, which is the biggest margin this round on Tuesday night. Al Kahraba have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 13-5 record. An Nasiriyah lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 17 lost games. They share the position with Al Suleikh. Al Kahraba will meet at home higher ranked Nift Al-Janoub (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. An Nasiriyah will play against Al Suleikh (#11) in Baghdad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game in Baghdad where 8th ranked Al-Tadamoun (7-11) was crushed by second ranked Al Nift (15-2) 88-68. Al Nift have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-2 record behind leader Al Shurtah. Al-Tadamoun at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Al Nift's next round opponent will be Al Karkh (#5) at home. Al-Tadamoun will play against Al Mina in Basra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Al Kahraba - An Nasiriyah 99-67
