There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Superleague.

Undefeated leader Al Shurtah delivered the seventh consecutive win on Tuesday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Al Suleikh (0-8) 98-68 in Baghdad. Undefeated Al Shurtah (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Al Suleikh at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with An Nasiriyah. Al Shurtah are looking forward to face Zakho (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Suleikh's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Iraqi Airways.
Bottom-ranked An Nasiriyah (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-55 loss to fifth ranked Nift Al-Janoub (6-2) in Basra. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The victory was the third consecutive win for Nift Al-Janoub. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. An Nasiriyah lost their eighth game in a row. An Nasiriyah at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Al Suleikh. Nift Al-Janoub's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Basra to the arena Al Mina.
The game in Al Hilla was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Al-Tadamoun (4-4) played at the court of eighth ranked Al Hilla (4-4). Al Hilla defeated Al-Tadamoun 72-59 on Thursday. Al Hilla moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Al-Tadamoun. Al Hilla will meet at home higher ranked Al Karkh (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al-Tadamoun will play against Al Nift and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Baghdad was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Al Mina (6-2) played at the court of 5th ranked Al Nift (6-2). Al Mina managed to secure a 8-point victory 101-93. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Al Mina. They maintain second place with 6-2 record behind leader Al Shurtah, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Al Nift. Al Mina's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Basra Nift Al-Janoub.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Baghdad: Al Kahraba (#6) and Iraqi Airways (#9). Al Kahraba (6-2) won against visiting Iraqi Airways (2-6) 95-85. Al Kahraba moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Iraqi Airways keep the ninth position with six games lost. In the last game of round 7 Zakho were defeated by Al Karkh in a road game 104-98.

Al Karkh - Zakho 104-98

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Zakho (1-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Al Karkh (5-3) 104-98 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Karkh. Despite that victory Al Karkh went down to sixth position due to points difference. Zakho lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with six games lost. Al Karkh will face Al Hilla (#7) on the road in the next round. Zakho will play against the league's leader Al Shurtah and hope to win that game.

Al Kahraba - Iraqi Airways 95-85

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Baghdad: Al Kahraba (#6) and Iraqi Airways (#9). Al Kahraba (6-2) won against visiting Iraqi Airways (2-6) 95-85. Al Kahraba moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Iraqi Airways keep the ninth position with six games lost. The biggest surprise of round 1 in Superleague took place in Baghdad where host Al Shurtah (8-3) beat Al Mina (3-8) 97-80 on Friday evening. Al Karkh (Superleague) signed 26-year old American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-100kg-91, college: Johnson C. Smith). He just played at Al Noor in Saudi Arabian SBL league.
